Each of the 10 oz Silver Bullets in this product listing is available to your courtesy of Silvertown. The small, private mint in Indiana produces a variety of silver bullets for investors and collectors. This round ships inside of individual custom boxes that have a Silvertown shipping sleeve that acts as a Certificate of Authenticity for your M2 Browning Machine Gun silver bullet.

The M2 Browning Machine Gun was designed by its namesake, John Browning, near the end of World War I. The Great War had seen the rise of machine gun use on the battlefield, and the United States Military found the need for a reliable heavy machine gun to replace those used in World War I.

10 oz Silver Bullet 50 Caliber Rounds replicate the size and shape of an actual 50 caliber round usable in the M2. The 50 caliber round for the M2 Browning were designed as 12.7x99mm NATO rounds and could be fired out of the M2 at a rate of 450 to 600 rounds per min. The effective firing range of the Browning machine gun was 2,000 yards with a maximum range of 2,700 yards.

These 10 oz Silver Bullets may reflect the appearance and size of an actual 50 caliber round, but they are not intended for actual use and are not operable as such. The 50 caliber round in the M2 replaced Browning’s earlier weapon system, the M1919 Browning machine gun chambered a smaller .30-06 cartridge and was used in World War I.

Silver Towne’s pick ax mint mark is featured on the base of the round near the primer. The other markings on this side include the weight of the bullet, purity of the silver, and the metal content itself.
